The name sodalite is derived from the Greek: soda (salt) and lithos (stone) – a reference to the mineral's high sodium content. Sodalite displays a characteristic blue color with white calcite veins and visually resembles lapis lazuli, yet it is a distinct mineral. Rarely, sodalite also exhibits chatoyancy (cat's eye effect). The 3 mm beads are a versatile size – ideal for delicate necklaces, bracelet combinations, and mala beads.
