Moldavite is a natural glass formed by a meteorite impact approximately 15 million years ago. The roughly 1.5-kilometer-wide celestial body struck the area now known as the Nördlinger Ries crater, and the enormous energy released generated extreme heat and pressure, causing the rock to melt. As it traveled through the atmosphere, the molten mass cooled and solidified into natural glass. The debris was scattered primarily across what is now the Czech Republic – hence the name, derived from the Vltava River, the most significant discovery site.
Natural glasses formed by meteorite impacts are called tektites – Libyan desert glass also belongs to this group.
Moldavite exhibits a characteristic olive-green to brownish coloration, which varies depending on its origin. Spiritual effects: Moldavite is considered a stone of life energy and joy. It opens the mind, promotes self-awareness, and helps one to let go of hindering traits such as stubbornness, greed, or excessive materialism. Instead, this special healing stone awakens creativity and supports problem-solving. Furthermore, moldavite strengthens empathy, improves memory, and intensifies dreams. Aggressive tendencies are also harmonized by its energy.
