Sugilite – one of the rarest gemstones in the world. Its name is derived from the Japanese geologist Ken-ichi Sugi, who first described it in Japan in 1944. The largest and most significant deposit is located in South Africa – yet almost all known occurrences are already largely exhausted. In good quality, sugilite is among the most expensive gemstones in existence. Its characteristic violet to purple hue is created by manganese in the crystal lattice. This pendant is set in 925 sterling silver.

Stone size: approx. 13 x 19 mm
Cut: Cabochon, polished
Setting: 925 sterling silver
Color: Violet to purple
Mineralogy: Potassium-sodium-lithium-iron-manganese-aluminum silicate, hexagonal

The rarity of sugilite makes every pendant a special collector's item – ideal for a silver chain or as a high-quality gift for gemstone enthusiasts.

Significant locations: South Africa (Wessels Mine), Japan, Canada, India.

Significance in crystal healing

Sugilite is also known as the "New Age Stone" and is considered the stone of the new era in crystal healing. It is said to provide hope and help with new beginnings – during difficult phases of life, illness, surgeries, convalescence, and reorientation following personal setbacks.

These attributions are based on handed-down tradition and are not scientifically proven. They do not replace medical treatment.
