Moonstone necklace 2.5 mm faceted - 925 silver

Moonstone is showcased in this gemstone necklace as a finely faceted 2.5 mm bead chain in delicate white to soft gray. The small gemstone beads display their adularescence in an especially elegant way: a mysterious, bluish-silvery shimmer that seems to float inside the stone and is further enhanced by the faceting. Moonstone is a variety of alkali feldspar (orthoclase/adularia, KAlSi₃O₈) with a Mohs hardness of 6–6.5. Adularescence is created by the refraction of light on thin alternating layers of orthoclase and albite within the stone. Deposits: Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar, Madagascar, Brazil – and historically also Austria (adularia from the Alps).
