This finely faceted ball chain made of red rutilated quartz captivates with a very special natural spectacle: inside each stone are fine rose-gold rutilated needles – like frozen sunbeams or delicate golden threads that catch the light and make it glow in a warm rose-gold. The 3 mm balls shimmer in a clear to slightly smoky quartz, permeated by this characteristic gold-red-bronze needle network, which makes each stone a unique work of natural art. Mineralogical properties

Rutilated quartz is a rock crystal or light smoky quartz (SiO₂) with enclosed rutilated needles (TiO₂) inside. These natural inclusions occur when rutile crystals are incorporated during quartz formation – a fascinating geological phenomenon. The color of the needles ranges from golden yellow to rose gold to dark red-bronze, depending on the iron content in the rutile. The delicate yellow-golden varieties are also known as "Venus hair". The Mohs hardness of quartz is 7. Rutilated quartz crystallizes in the trigonal system. Important deposits are Brazil, Madagascar, Russia, Australia and Switzerland (Alps).
