The ECAIA Carafe is a mineral flow-through water ionizer that is able to remove harmful substances from the water, positively alter its properties, and harmoniously round off the taste of the ECAIA water.
Unlike an electric water ionizer, this carafe requires no electricity. Activated carbon granules purify the water of impurities.
The filter of the Ecaia carafe should be changed every two months.
Sanuslife's filter technology
Like the ECAIA ionizer, the ECAIA carafe also utilizes filter technology by SANUSLIFE® INTERNATIONAL. The filtering and ionization process takes place within the ECAIA cartridge. Special bio-ceramics perform the mineral ionization without the need for electricity.
Note: Depending on the mineral composition of the water, the ionization performance can vary. Therefore, a high ionization performance cannot always be guaranteed, which is why a low to very low pH value and/or a positive redox value are also possible.
The water treatment process using ECAIA filter cartridges is divided into 2 phases:
Phase 1 – The cleaning
As in ECAIA filters No. 1 and No. 2 of the ECAIA Ionizer, the ECAIA filter cartridge for the ECAIA Carafe also contains activated carbon granules. Depending on the level of contaminants present, it achieves a low to very high filtration efficiency for the most common contaminants found in drinking water. This results in levels that are often far below the limits set by the Drinking Water Ordinance.
Note: In areas with very hard water, a high ionization performance cannot be guaranteed, which is why a low to very low pH value and/or a positive redox value are also possible.
Phase 2 – Mineral Ionization
Special bioceramics, fired from minerals and metals, react upon contact with water, enabling mineral ionization. In this chemical process, the water acquires the same properties as when treated by electronic water ionizers: it becomes more alkaline, more oxygen-rich, and more antioxidant (electron-rich).
Knowledge of water treatment using fired minerals and metals dates back a long way. Especially in China, Japan, and Korea, ceramics were already being fired some 2000 to 3000 years ago. Later, functional ceramics were developed that can alter the pH and ORP values of water.
SANUSLIFE® INTERNATIONAL has revived this ancient knowledge. Numerous tests were conducted to identify the weaknesses of earlier filter media and adapt them to the properties of today's water. Almost everything was redesigned, from the materials and firing time to the formula.
Depending on the source water, values of up to pH 9.5 and ORP of over -100 mV can be achieved.

Environmentally friendly cartridge replacement
Water is often bought in convenient single-use plastic bottles. However, this convenience leaves its mark on the environment. Bottled water creates mountains of plastic waste. Worldwide, approximately 89 billion liters of water are bottled in plastic every year. 80 percent of these bottles are not recycled. Furthermore, the production of a plastic bottle consumes an enormous amount of energy and clean water. From an ecological perspective, the production of single-use plastic bottles for drinking water is completely unreasonable. With the ECAIA Carafe, you can produce high-quality water and also contribute to environmental protection. The carafe works with a single, large filter cartridge.
