Here's how to use your nutmeg oil:
In the diffuser: Add 3-5 drops to your diffuser (nutmeg is very intense, so use less) to create a warm, cozy atmosphere – perfect for autumn and winter evenings or festive occasions.
Massage for tension: Dilute 1-2 drops with a carrier oil (e.g. V-6™ or coconut oil) and massage the mixture onto tense muscles, joints or the lower back – ideal for a warming, pain-relieving massage.
Digestive support: Dilute 1 drop with a carrier oil and massage the mixture clockwise onto the abdomen – traditionally used to support digestion and relieve bloating.
In the bath: Add 2-3 drops (mixed with an emulsifier such as sea salt or carrier oil) to your bathwater for a warming, relaxing bath – ideal for tension relief or during the cold season.
Aromatherapy: Inhale gently from the bottle (not too close) for emotional support, warmth and comfort.
Culinary use: Add 1 drop to pastries, desserts, mulled wine, chai tea, or pumpkin dishes for a spicy nutmeg flavor. Use only food-grade nutmeg oil and very sparingly!
Application tips:
- For muscle tension: Massage a diluted solution onto the affected areas.
- For joint pain: Massage in a diluted form for warming relief.
- For digestive problems: Massage diluted solution onto the abdomen (clockwise).
- For a cozy atmosphere: Use in a diffuser with cinnamon and orange for a Christmas scent.
- In the kitchen: Add 1 drop to dishes (use very sparingly)
- For relaxation: In the bath or as a massage
- For cold feet/hands: Massage in a diluted solution for a warming effect.
Important information: Nutmeg is a very potent, skin-irritating oil. ALWAYS dilute heavily before topical application (at least 1:4 with a carrier oil). Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or children under 6 years of age. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and sensitive skin areas. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. Keep out of reach of children. Perform a skin test on sensitive skin. Do not use in high doses (can be toxic in large quantities).
About nutmeg (Myristica fragrans):
Nutmeg comes from the nutmeg tree (Myristica fragrans), an evergreen tree originally from the Banda Islands in Indonesia and now primarily cultivated in tropical regions. The essential oil is extracted from the seeds (nutmegs) through steam distillation and contains valuable constituents such as myristicin, elemicin, and safrole. Nutmeg has been used traditionally for centuries – both as a spice in cooking and in folk medicine for its warming, digestive, and pain-relieving properties. Its characteristic spicy-sweet aroma makes nutmeg a popular spice in Christmas baking and a valuable essential oil for the colder months.
Perfect for:
- Warming massage for muscle tension
- Joint pain and arthritis
- Supports digestion and relieves bloating
- Cozy autumn and winter atmosphere
- Festive occasions and Christmas time
- Relaxing, warming baths
- Culinary use in pastries and desserts
- Aromatherapy for emotional well-being
Aroma profile:
Nutmeg has a spicy-sweet, warm, woody scent with nutty, slightly peppery notes. The aroma is warming, calming, and comforting. It harmonizes beautifully with cinnamon, clove, ginger, orange, cardamom, vanilla, frankincense, and other spice or citrus oils.
